One of the principal reasons of slower Hispanic and Black recovery from disaster is the lack of insurance and insufficient insurance settlements among minorities. This paper summarises the findings of the FIU Hurricane Andrew survey data on ethnic differentials in insurance and insurance settlements in post-Hurricane Andrew in metropolitan Miami. Findings suggest that minority households are at risk of much lower rates of recovery from Hurricane Andrew
