On 19 September 1994, the Rabaul Volcano in East New Britain, Papua New Guinea erupted. The eruption caused widespread destruction in Rabaul and a dozen villages, caused 5 deaths, and made 80,000 people homeless. This report gives a critical analysis of events and processes in 1994/95, taking up issues not dealt with by the author or others elsewhere
