Updates the data and reviews the methods for estimating probabilities of large earthquakes on the southern San Andreas and San Jacinto faults and considers other potentially damaging earthquakes throughout southern California. Presents a preferred seismic hazard model with lognormal recurrence and an alternate Poissonian model. The predicted seismicity exceeds that observed historically.
