Presents the result of a vulnerability modelling effort in a twenty-square-mile area in San Bernardino County, California in 1983. A database was created consisting of existing seismic automated geophysical, structural and demographic files. An existing seismic intensity model was used to produce Modified Mercalli shaking intensities at the census block level for three separate major earthquake events. Modelled outputs included maps and tabulations. Included within the report is a Basic Map Atlas; identification of potential liquefaction areas; commercial industrial structures at risk; a socio-economic analysis for three classes of single family residences and mobile homes. The analyses presents maps and reports on the number of structures damaged, dollar loss, homeless caseload, and injuries and deaths. A technical design for a regional hazard vulnerability system is presented along with a number of management considerations.
