The official "A" alert provided a direct means for the USGS and State OES to communicate the warning to other organizations and the public. The alert served as a reminder to the public and to organizations serving the public that they occupy earthquake territory. More importantly, it provided an opportunity for organizations and residents alike to take stock of their earthquake readiness capabilities.
