This guide identifies and analysises minimisation methodologies appropriate for the printed circuit board manufacturing industry. The wastes resulting from printed circuit board manufacturing are associated with five types of processes: cleaning and surface preparation; catalyst application and electroless plating; pattern printing and masking; electroplating; and etching. Tha wastes include airborne particulates, spent plating baths, waste rinse water, and other wastes. Waste minimisation assessment worksheets are contained within this guide to be of use to shop managers and engineers, or consultants in formulating a waste minimisation strategy for a particular plant. Case histories of waste minimisation assessments performed at three plants are presented.
