Managing recovery from disasters : issues for the nineteen nineties.

By: Material type: TextTextLanguage: ENG Publication details: [199-]Description: 7 pSubject: Anecdotal evidence from a wide range of sources is that disaster recovery in Australia is managed at least as well - and probably better - than in other comparable societies. However, this is not a ground for complacency. Typically complacency results in regression, not even maintenance of the status quo. We therefore need to continuously and critically review our systems for planning and management, our commitment to disaster recovery and the efficacy of assistance measures. To do this requires effort from disaster recovery managers. However, it will also require a continued commitment from agencies and government. This commitment can be best achieved where disaster recovery managers can demonstrate service efficiency, the continuing relevance of disaster recovery, and can incorporate disaster recovery into the corporate agenda.
