By: Contributor(s): Material type: TextTextLanguage: ENG Series: Working papers series (Arizona State University. Office of Hazards Studies) ; 105Publication details: NOV 1986Description: v, 19p., 7 tabs, 26 refsReport number: CEE-82-12799Subject: Reviews the research into victim utilization of disaster services. It suggests the research to date is conflicting and often contradictory regarding client utilization of and satisfaction with disaster services. Data from a survey of disaster victims of the Coalinga, California earthquake is presented to suggest previous research findings may be flawed by their narrow focus and cross sectional nature as well as by limited conceptual frameworks which fail to consider either the nature of the service providers or the services being provided. This paper is an initial effort to better conceptualize this element of disaster service research and to apply some preliminary data to these questions.
