Prepared for the ANUFLOOD Seminar-Workshop, Dept. of Geography, University of Waikato, Hamilton, New Zealand
The study concentrates on the assessment of tangible urban damage and provides a background to the use of the inter-active computer package ANUFLOOD. The ANUFLOOD procedure is based on the use of separate stage-damage curves for the residential and commercial sectors. Guidelines are given for the assessment of potential damage, both direct and indirect, and to the estimation of actual losses. Details of the inputs and outputs of ANUFLOOD are described and emphasis is given to the use of the package in evaluating the benefits of a range of flood mitigation measures.
