Stress (psychology)
This report describes an investigation of psychological reactions among the survivors of a multiple shooting that occurred in a Melbourne city office block on December, 8, 1987. The incident has become known as the Queen Street shootings. The research was undertaken in order to examine the levels of post-trauma reactions over time and to identify those factors that may affect reaction to, and recovery from, trauma. In order to address these issues, a prospective, repeated measures survey design was used. This report is a valuable contribution, not only in its systematic and careful description of what happened and what was done to assist the affected people, but also in the fact that it has tried to systematically follow up a large group of those who were involved in this trauma.
