The storms left extensive damage to property in their wake, one person was killed, and twenty three injured. The line of storm developed ahead of a cold front moving slowly across south-eastern Australia. It was first observed on Sydney (Kingsford-Smith) Airport radar at 1505 DST (Daylight Saving Time) 55 km to the southwest of the Airport moving rapidly northeastwards.
