The severe storm situation and tornado is investigated. It is shown that the triggering mechanism of the storms was the up-slide motion of moist unstable air over drier stable air. Estimates of the maximum wind speeds associated with the tornado were obtained by invoking the use of the Fujita scale. This indicated that the maximum wind speeds were in the range 217 to 253 km/h
