Subject: On 15 July 1976 HMAS Parramatta was on passage from Darwin to Singapore when a serious earthquake hit the Island of Bali. The magnitude registered 5.6 on the Richter scale, 467 people lost their lives and 2500 were injured, and approximately 85,000 buildings were destroyed or damaged beyond repair. The ship was ordered to Bali to assist with relief operations. This report tells briefly the story of the ship's response and the assistance given to the people of Seririt on the north coast of the island
