Bibliography: p.19-27
Australia is situated largely in the tropics and subtropics, between latitudes 11 S and 43 S, in a predominantly oceanic hemisphere. It is subject to large climatic variability and extremes, including the effects of the El Nino-Southern Oscillation, frequent droughts, wildfires, floods, tropical cyclones, and severe storms leading to coastal storm surges, hail and wind damage. Climatic change may well affect all of these phenomena, but unfortunately there are great uncertainties. This paper reviews all the issues, the state of the science, and some of the possible policy responses
